I’m grateful for the Istituto Italiano di Cultura, located in downtown Vancouver. The Italian government sponsors these cultural institutes in various places around the world. I very much appreciate the lectures, art exhibitions, concerts, films, readings (although usually in Italian), and miscellaneous other events that they sponsor, most of which are free. Often the Italian Consulate is involved as well; I admit that I am unclear as to the precise relationship between the two.
February is a busy month for the Istituto. Rather than list everything offered (although do note the lectures, given by respected academic scholars, about how Hannibal crossed the alps and about Roman gods, as well as the February 13 art opening). I recommend signing up for their newsletter.
