I’m still not over the sad 2013 demise of the Waldorf Hotel as a performance and art space. But the team behind that great work (Arrival Agency) have now opened the Fox Cabaret, which used to be a theatre of a particular sort that the Internet has mostly made obsolete. After extensive renovation, the Fox Cabaret at Main and 7th has opened, and it is hosting lots of terrific events.
Music on Main, for example, has a concert with Corey Hamms on the piano, with an intriguing set that combines music from the 19th and 20th centuries, with a very new composition (by the in-house composer Jocelyn Morelock).
György Ligeti‘s L’Arrache coeur (original Etude No. 11)
Brett Dean‘s Hommage à Kurtag
Noël Lee‘s Etude No. 5 “Legatospielen”
Dai Fujikura‘s Etude No. 1 “Frozen Heat”
Jocelyn Morlock‘s Corybantic (World Premiere commissioned for Corey Hamm through the British Columbia Arts Council)
Henri Dutilleux‘s Prelude en Berceuse, Homage a Bach, and Lied
Frederic Rzewski‘s Winnsboro Cotton Mill Blues
The Fox Cabaret is wheelchair accessible. Please inform Music on Main of any mobility needs when booking your tickets: 604.879.9888 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
